Floating a western river in a
Drift Boat
is a fly fishing experience not to be missed. The lure of
big rivers, sweeping vistas and trophy wild trout makes the
Bighorn River
and the North Platte
River world famous. Larry O'Steen and I made two
day trips on the Bighorn River form Fort Smith with our
guide Brett McCrae of Rock Creek Anglers out of
Saddlestring, WY ( about 15 miles outside of Buffalo, WY)
the reason for two days on the Bighorn is that it was great
fishing and there were reports of "muddy" conditions on the
North Platte.
Bighorn River
Floating Montana’s Bighorn River is an outing that has developed a well-deserved reputation for some of the best fly-fishing in the West. The Bighorn River is known for being a tremendous resources for brown and rainbow trout, many over 18 inches that will fervently eat a dry fly. If you want to enjoy Big Sky Country with long summer days, cool, clear water and plenty of big, wild, powerful trout; the Bighorn is the place for you.
